A girly day pour soigner les derrières

After a leisurely breakfast for the first time in the holiday we wandered through the tiny streets of Brantome. Shops were dug into the rocky hillside, the first touristy place we have stayed. Enough variety to satisfy our shopping needs (guess who is writing this blog? )
Beautiful river bisecting the town and interesting attempts by canoeists to shoot the weir, loud applause greeted them from the bank on the  successful completion of the manouevre.
We called in at the pharmacy to buy necessary dressings and salves, and took the opportunity to check our weight and blood pressures, something that every tourist does while on holiday.
A restful walk in the garden of the unemployed, who had grown some magnificent squashes, melons & tomatoes followed by our pique nique  in the heat of the mid day sun on the banks of the river Dronne.
With some trepidation we set off at 2p.m. for our shortest stage of the trip so far - a mere 35 kms - testing our derrières (not to destruction).
Far more long up hills & fast descents through wooded countryside. For the first time whilst riding downhill Jim applied his brakes to good effect.
Arrived in Coulaures to a warm welcome by a young couple running a restaurant, shop and B and B. Drinks in the sun followed by a simple prepared meal. The end of a cracking day.
